Craniofacial Pain and Dental Sleep Medicine

How does your headache relate to your sleep?

How does your jaw pain relate to your breathing?

TxCranio provides Craniofacial Pain solutions that relieve discomfort, restore vitality, and support your overall health without relying solely on medications or surgery.

TMJ

Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD) can show up in many ways—jaw pain or tightness, clicking or popping, difficulty opening wide, headaches, earaches, neck or shoulder pain, and discomfort when chewing or talking. It may be caused by joint issues (like disc problems or arthritis), muscle tension from clenching or grinding, poor posture, stress, or past injuries.
At TxCranio, we specialize in non-surgical, conservative care for TMD. We identify the root cause of your pain—including possible links to sleep, breathing, neck or posture issues—and create a personalized treatment plan. This may include gentle muscle therapy, custom oral appliances, targeted exercises, imaging, and posture or stress coaching.
Our goal is simple: relieve your pain, restore healthy jaw function, and help you feel like yourself again.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea often goes undiagnosed because symptoms can be subtle and snoring isn’t always present. Common signs include daytime fatigue, morning headaches, jaw pain from clenching or grinding, trouble concentrating, mood changes, and even high blood pressure or insulin resistance. Risk factors include a small or crowded jaw, nasal congestion, excess weight, and sleeping on your back.

The good news? Sleep apnea is treatable. In our clinic, we offer custom oral appliances that gently reposition the jaw to keep your airway open—an effective, comfortable alternative to CPAP for many patients. If you've been diagnosed with sleep apnea and want a CPAP alternative, we can coordinate with your physician. If you're not yet diagnosed but have concerns, we offer convenient home sleep testing.

Better sleep can mean more energy, fewer headaches, and improved overall health. We're here to help you breathe—and feel—better.

Multifactorial Headaches and Migraines

Most chronic headaches are influenced by the upper cervical nerves and/or trigeminovascular pathways. At TxCranio, our treatment protocols are designed to relieve the burden of migraine, tension-type headaches, cluster headaches, facial pain disorders, cervicogenic headaches, occipital neuralgia, and even idiopathic intracranial hypertension. As part of our comprehensive approach, we also evaluate whether underlying factors such as hormone dysfunction, anemia, hypoglycemia, or hypertension may be contributing to your pain.

Our goal is to identify the root causes of your headaches and reduce the number of days you spend in pain. We work in collaboration with your neurologist to pinpoint your specific triggers, giving you greater clarity and helping you manage your condition with the lowest possible reliance on medications.

Head, Neck and Facial Pain

The nerves in your face, head, and neck collaborate within a network known as the trigeminocervical complex, which plays a crucial role in managing pain, muscle activity, and even breathing. When this system faces issues—such as TMJ disorders, improper jaw development, or neck tension—it can result in headaches, jaw discomfort, nighttime clenching or grinding (bruxism), and even breathing difficulties like sleep apnea. These problems often begin childhood due to altered jaw growth. Our treatment aims to restore balance, relieve pressure, and minimize pain by addressing neuromusculoskeletal compensations in the head and neck. Could the pain you're experiencing behind your eye be stemming from your neck? Let us assist you.
